As Educators do we actually take a breath and spend enough effort and focus on improving our leadership skills? There is no other factor more important to the strength of an organization than the strength of it’s leaders, yet true growth for district leaders too often takes a back seat to the practical and immediate needs of a school district. The results are that novice district leaders are woefully unprepared for the array of leadership skills necessary to build a positive school culture and they experience unnecessary stress which negatively effects their decision-making and effectiveness. Meanwhile, experienced leaders receive even less feedback and are expected to work on their own leadership skills independently.
Leadership can be developed and strengthened through true reflection and developing the habits and skills necessary to meet the needs of every situation and every school culture. We take an asset-based individualized approach to developing leaders, including current administrators, potential leaders, and student leaders.
